Meeting with Prof. Yang Jianzheng on E-commerce Law

In the meeting, Prof. Yang, who is the lead pen drafting the E-commerce Law, briefly introduced the background of the legislation and said the new law was expected to be passed by 2018. The new law will look into electronic contract and payment, regulate information of electronic transaction and clarify duties of platform and business operator. In addition, due to the rapid development of cross-border E-commerce, the new law will have a specific chapter in order to make it compliant with customs regulations. Prof. Yang finally compared Shanghai and Hangzhou’s practice in cross-border E-commerce and commented that Shanghai could have better allocated market resources to lead the nationwide pilot programme.
