Seminar with CAICT on Personal Information Protection and Cross-border Data Flow Policies

The seminar started with opening remarks by EU Delegation and CAICT officials. Representatives of the European Chamber and the CAICT then delivered presentations on personal information protection and cross-border data flow policies in China and the EU respectively, followed by Q&A sessions. It was also pointed out that policy makers are encouraged to strike a balance between development and innovation on the one hand, and security and privacy protection on the other. The industry strongly hoped that clear and stable rules as well as certain degree of flexibility can be provided during policy-making and implementation. Both sides agreed that going forward, bilateral cooperation should be enhanced.
