Meeting with State Council Research Office

Officials of the State Council Research Office, together with representatives of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (CAEFI) and Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (SAEFI) paid a visit to the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter to study the perception from the European businesses on the implementation of State Council Document No. 5 and No. 39.

Dr Ioana Kraft, General Manager of the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter welcomed the delegation and shared with them observations on the policy implementation in both national and local level. Accessibility to government policies for small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) is suggested to be strengthened for the creation of a more inclusive business environment. She also made an introduction on the Chamber's on-going publications includes the Business Confidence Survey 2018, thematic paper on State Council Document No. 5 & No. 39, and the Shanghai Position Paper 2018/2019

Views were exchanged on heated topics such as unfair technology transfer and the EU foreign direct investment (FDI) screening mechanism during the meeting. Both sides expressed the willingness to have more exchanges in the future to reduce the information asymmetry.
