European Chamber representatives meet European Council President Charles Michel

On 13th November, a group of senior representatives from the European Chamber led by President Joerg Wuttke met with European Council President Charles Michel. President Wuttke provided an overview of the key messages in the 2020/2021 Position Paper, and covered issues like the economic path of China under different reform scenarios, as well as existing and new issues such as COVID-19, SOE reform and human rights. The other representatives outline the situation in their respective sectors (energy, banking, forestry and shipping). 

President Michel reiterated the EU commitments to rebalance its relationship with China and ensure reciprocity, while at the strengthening the internal market against unfair practices and continuing to seek engagement in areas of common interest such as climate change.
