On 16th October an event on online IP Protection in China was held. Ronald Chu, Partner at Deacons Shanghai, outlined the recent changes and provided an overview of the legal position of personal data privacy in China as protection of consumer privacy has become a significant concern for businesses and the public. David Ho, Legal Counsel at the Alibaba Group, then introduced the intellectual property protection systems of various e-commerce platforms under the Alibaba Group. Useful tips to assist rights holders in their intellectual property protection effort was also shared.
