European Chamber Business Dialogue with Jiangsu Government

The "2020 Jiangsu Provincial Government Dialogue" organized by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Nanjing Chapter and  supported by Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province was held today at InterContinental Hotel. This event aimed to build a platform for communication between enterprises and government departments in Jiangsu, to jointly improve the level of opening up of Jiangsu, to facilitate the high-quality development, and to improve local business environment. This year’s dialogue brought nearly 20 government representatives from a variety of provincial departments and nearly 120 representatives from more than 70 European enterprises together to discuss the most concerned issues.

Mr. Joerg Wuttke, President of European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, delivered the keynote speech during the main session. He outlooked the future of EU-China relations and shared Chamber’s stance on the Social Credit System and the BRI. Mr. Bernhard Weber, board chair of Nanjing chapter introduced the 2019/2020 Nanjing Position Paper to the audience. Representatives from Department of Commerce, Department of Industry and Information Technology, Department of Ecology and Environment also interpreted the most updated and relevant policies, such as the Integrations of Yangtze River Delta, with European business.

The ensuing discussion addressed specific economic and development policies in Jiangsu such as pollution prevention policies, innovation incentive measures, talent attraction policies, tax policy adjustments, and working VISA policy. The discussions were divided into two panels by sector: AC Members and GM Discussion, Human Resources, Finance and Taxation.
