Leadership Talks 1st Session Achieved Success

Nelson Mandela once said It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

Thus, around this very theme, the 1st session of Leadership Talks Series——Leadership Improvement, hosted by European Chamber of Commerce in China Shenyang Chapter was held on 14th June 2022 at Shenyang World EXPO, 4th Floor, EXPO Gallery.

We invited Mr. Robert Kuessel, the Senior Vice President of Technology and Manufacturing from BMW, to share his rich experience as top leader at the company and his insights and practices on leadership with over 20 middle and senior level executives from member companies.

Starting from Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Robert talked about the relationship between "management" and "leadership" based on the people-oriented principles and advised leaders to seek "both and" rather than "either or" in an appropriate manner and attitude in a world full of paradoxes.

During the Q&A session, Robert shared his views on topics such as "relationship between personal competence, work experience, willingness for promotion and career opportunities", "women in workplace and female leadership", "cross-cultural leadership" and "motivation for team members from younger generation" etc., which were very practical and straightforward. The discussion aroused echo among participants and were so positive that the whole sharing session was extended by over an hour than expected.

The lights came on and brought the first event of the leadership talk series to a successful ending.

Please stay tuned for the next event of this series events...
