On 17th September, a European Chamber delegation presented the Position Paper 2013/2014 during a lunch seminar with DG TRADE Commissioner Karel De Gucht. Commissioner De Gucht took questions from China watchers in Brussels. Questions focussed on BIT, solar case, TTIP, TIP. He clearly stated that Europe would not engage in a Bilateral Trade Investment Agreement (BIT) with China if it excluded market access negotiations.
A Chamber delegation met with Vice President Joaquin Almunia, DG COMP. They discussed the Position Paper and recent anti-monopoly developments.
During the Agriculture, Food and Beverage (AFB) Working Group meeting, Samantha Northey, the Vice Chair of the AFB Working Group, presented the Position Paper to the Head of Unit of DG TRADE. They discussed paediatric nutrition issues, food safety and agricultural issues.
Following the second day of meetings in Brussels, the delegation met former European Chamber Secretary General Dirk Moens for a drink.
