A significant number of fresh graduates are not equipped with the competitive skills needed to function successfully in the current work environment in China, resulting in companies spending large amounts of time and money in training.
To help bridge the gap between students’ capabilities and market needs, the European Chamber Human Resources Working Group further recommends that companies get involved in developing university curriculum. Academia and business need to work hand in hand to share resources and develop competitive talent the market needs.
To discuss this topic at length, the European Chamber is delighted to welcome a host of professionals leading this change on the universities and companies side, who will share their experiences, challenges and best practices.

The European Chamber members pay great attention to the implementation of a fairer system to employ people with disabilities in China and included it as a Key Recommendation to the 2017/2018 Human Resources Position Paper. In order to help members to better engage with people with disabilities in their business, the European Chamber is delighted to invite Mr. Haibin Zhou, Consultant of the United Nations and International Labour Organization, UN Disability Equality Training Facilitator and Co-founder of Easy Inclusion Consulting, to explain the preparatory work that needs to be undertaken to successfully hire and include talent with disabilities in the workplace, both from the company and person perspectives. HR Working Group Meeting and Chair Election

The current economic environment has some companies struggling, leading to restructurings, liquidations and insolvencies. Managers and HR departments should be prepared for the related challenges. Employment related measures, in particular staff lay-offs, need careful advance planning. Related efforts well outweigh the risk of unrest and challenges via labor arbitration and litigation.
During the first part of the meeting, we will hold the Elections for the Human Resources Working Group Chair and Vice Chairs.
