Appointment of new Secretary General at the European Chamber

Beijing, 29th June 2008. The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is pleased to announce the appointment of Marianne Friese to the position of Secretary General. Marianne will be the successor to Michael O'Sullivan and will officially take up the position of Secretary General from Monday, 25th August 2008.

Marianne is from Germany and her major at university was engineering and economics. She spent several years in the USA, where she obtained a Masters Degree in Communications and ran the Marketing department of the German Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles. From there she moved to Munich, where she ran the German business of a US based communications group and was the global Partner responsible for brand marketing.

Marianne's company supported her request to transfer to Beijing in 2001, where she managed several global client accounts and had Asia Pacific responsibilities in addition to her China tasks. She went on to establish her own China strategy consulting and communications team in Beijing, working for clients from Europe.

Joerg Wuttke, President of the European Chamber commented, "Marianne is a proven leader, with an exceptionally strong track-record in building successful multi-cultural teams and managing multi-national projects."

中国欧盟商会任命新秘书长

北京，2008年6月29日。中国欧盟商会荣幸宣布任命玛莉莲女士为商会的新一届秘书长。玛莉莲将接替现任秘书长沙利文的工作，于今年8月25日起正式担任商会秘书长一职。

玛莉莲来自德国，在大学主修工程和经济。她曾在美国生活多年，取得了传播学的硕士学位，并在洛杉矶的德国商会主管市场部运营。随后，她前往德国慕尼黑，负责一家美国传媒集团在德国的业务，并担任品牌营销董事。

在公司的支持下，她于2001年来到北京发展，管理多家全球客户业务，负责中国及亚太地区的经营。随后，她在中国建立了自己的战略咨询和传播团队，服务来自欧洲的客户。

中国欧盟商会主席伍德克评论道：“玛莉莲是一位出色的领导者，在建立多元文化团队和管理跨国项目方面，拥有丰富卓越的成功经验。”
