In 2019, UN Women and the European Union jointly launched the WeEmpower Asia programme in seven Asia countries, including China. One of the components of the programme is to mobilize more companies to sign and implement WEPs, and to play a more important role in promoting gender equality. So far, more than 3,200 companies, including 87 companies from mainland China, have signed the WEPs.
