About the company
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China was founded in 2000 by 51 member companies that shared a goal of establishing a common voice for the European businesses operating in China. It is a members-driven, non-profit, fee-based organization with a core structure of over 25 working groups and forums representing European business in China.
The European Chamber now has more than 1700 members in 7 chapters operating in 9 cities: Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenyang, South China (Guangzhou and Shenzhen), Southwest China (Chengdu and Chongqing), and Tianjin.
The Chamber is recognised as the official voice of European business in China.
Job description
This internship will start on 28th October 2024 (based on actual dates of applying) at the European Chamber Shanghai Office (No.333 Huaihai Middle Road, Shanghai). The internship should last for 3-6 months, with weekly onsite attendance of 3 to 5 working days.
- Research on Europe-China trade and business-related policies and current affairs. Weekly update of the polices & news in the Yangtze River Delta Area.
- Research on industry policies and current affairs. Monthly update of industry working group newsletters.
- Assist in organising working group meetings and/or government meetings. Tasks include sending invitation, preparing briefing notes, meeting agenda and meeting minutes, conducting registration, and other administrative tasks.
- English/Chinese translation and interpretation.
- Other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the team leader.
Skills & experience
- Experiences in policy research and analysis. Have a good understanding of EU-China relations, China’s political system, industrial policies in the China market and the local business environment.
- Native Chinese speaker with proficient level of English is required (Equivalent to IELTS 7.5 or TOEFL 102 above); Knowledge of an additional European Language is an asset.
- Background in international relations, economics, political sciences, law, business, languages, or other relevant areas. Having had study experience in Europe is an asset.
- Good interpersonal skills (strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, proactivity, good communicator).
- Computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability of fast learning, multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.
