Patent protection - meeting with Guangdong Intellectual Property Office

On September 9th, 2015, in Guangzhou, Members of European Chamber, South China Chapter met with the representatives of Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Office. During this meeting, Mr.Weining Lan introduced the foundation of Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Office and related laws enforcement. Guangdong Intellectual Property Office also shared statistical figures of patent complaint cases which have reached a total of 1065 with 785 design patent cases, 223 utility model patent cases and 57 invention patent cases from January 2015 to August 2015 and case handling procedures which are of European companies’ concern.
The meeting concluded with the handover of South China Position Paper 2015/2016 by Ms. Alice Li, Intellectual Property Rights Working Group Chair of South China Chapter, European Chamber and with the handover of European Business in China Position Paper 2014/2015 by Ms. Sophia Hou, Intellectual Property Rights Working Group Vice Chair of South China Chapter, European Chamber to Mr. Weining Lan, Director of Cooperation and Coordination Division, Guangdong Intellectual Property Office.
