Seminar with China Electronics Standardization Institute on China RoHS II

2016-03-08 | Beijing

CESI is an institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. The institute was responsible for drafting the new regulation.

Main topics clarified during the seminar:

The labelling requirements of China’s RoHS II apply to finished products only. Components/modules for repair or assembly in China need no RoHS-labels.

China RoHS II applies to finished products manufactured from 01 July 2016. The date of manufacture shall be proven by the label on the device and the internal documentation of the manufacturer.

China’s RoHS II is applicable to all products sold within Mainland China, but not to products manufactured in China intended for export to third countries.

Industry representatives recommended that China should implement a centralized conformity mechanism, consisting of one comprehensive label like the CE marking and avoid separate additional RoHS labels
