MN gave a big welcome and introduced the previous talk MH had with his colleague on ‘Global Report on Sustainable Transportation’ of the UN. He explained the objective of road transportation to align ways of transportation to be more efficient. MN understood the Chamber role in the mobility sector towards driving sustainable mobility under economic, social and environment concerns. IRU focuses on road stability of countries along Silk Road which links with OBOR.
MN explained the IRU 3 pillars:
Advocacy to the EU (including Commission, Parliament, Council and Member States)
Global activities of people (taxi, bus, trucks)
Taxi, including stable development for drivers and risk management regarding toxic emissions
Bus, extra charging of electronic buses and risk management regarding toxic emissions
Commercial Vehicle, 2030 overview of the future
Urbanisation initiative in China includes trade facilitation and best practices sharing
Innovation
Applied research on new technologies of transportation projects
Training and solution planning for transportation efficiency
Multi-Motor mind-set at the beginning – How to create a shortcut to booking/paying across countries/regions?
Finally, MH mentioned that the European Chamber should get into closer contact with IRU and exchange opinions regularly. He agreed to facilitate the contact process for this purpose.
