Meet with the Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific

China Ministry of Environmental Protection will have a delegation to attend the upcoming international conference to discuss and finalize the Basel Technical Guidelines (TG) on the transboundary movement of electronic waste (e-waste). DITTA, the Global Association of manufacturers of medical devices (COCIR is one of the four organizers on behalf of EU industry) recently issued a position paper which the industry recommends that, medical devices have to be excluded from the scope of the technical guidance on Transboundary Movements of E-waste. During the visit, COCIR China Environmental Focus Group experts explained the positions to the Centre. They expressed that they were getting better understanding on the TG and impact to medical device industry.
