Meeting with Vice Minister Gan Zangchun, SCLAO

Vice Minister Gan extended warm welcome to the President and representatives of the European Chamber. He recalled the sound relationship between the SCLAO and the Chamber, which could be dated back to 2002. He said the SCLAO welcome the comments, including critical comments from the public, as long as it benefits China’s rule of law. President Wuttke thanked Vice Minister Gan for his time and briefly introduced the key findings in this year’s Position Paper, which was presented to Vice Minister Gan later. He also talked about the reciprocity that is needed for the European businesses, decreasing trade flow from the EU to China, the need for a successful conclusion of the CAI negotiations, etc.

Working group representatives raised issues related to different industries and voiced concerns and recommendations one after another. Officials from relevant departments responded to the questions asked and commented on interested issues. Vice Minister Gan said that the SCLAO can learn from European businesses and commended the Chamber a strong lobbyist. He expressed the hope to further expand the cooperation and exchanges with the Chamber to conclude the meeting.
