Meeting with Shanghai Huangpu District Commerce Commission on Future Cooperation

During this meeting, Mr. Yuan Mingzhao, Deputy Director of Shanghai Huangpu District Commerce Commission, introduced the structural change of the Huangpu District Commerce Commission after the merge of Huangpu and Luwan districts, the roles and responsibilities of the foreign investment promotion department, change of foreign investment regime due to the introduction of the Negative List, as well as the Commission’s work plan of 2017. Dr. Ioana Kraft, General Manager of the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter, welcomed the Mr. Yuan’s visit and highlighted some issues that are commonly concerned by the foreign invested enterprises, i.e., work permits for senior foreign executives and intern visas for young expats. At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to organize an information session for relevant district government departments to explain policies, regulations and practices to the European Chamber members at the beginning of next year. Dr. Kraft also presented the Business Confidence Survey and Position Paper 2016/2017 to Mr. Yuan.
