2017-02-09 | All chapters

DC briefly updated the ESIA on the meetings that the Chamber had with the European Commission (EC) earlier in the week, with a focus on China Manufacturing 2025 and the semiconductor industry. He underlined that the EC is looking for concrete examples and facts-based data showing the European industry’s restricted access to the Chinese market.

DC and XM introduced to the ESIA recent developments in relation to cybersecurity, including the Cybersecurity Law and its implementing rules, the National Cyberspace Security Strategy, the China Manufacturing 2025 Strategy and their implications on European companies. DC then gave a general presentation on the laws and regulations pertinent to the information security industry in China, and emphasized the importance of engaging with the Office of State Commercial Cryptography Administration (OSCCA) and the China Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA).

In turn, the ESIA presented on the recent developments within the World Semiconductor Council (WSC), saying that given the sensitivity of encryption-related topics, they are now engaging more in cybersecurity related issues.

The two sides also had deep exchanges on topics such as critical information infrastructure protection and certification.
