EU Tour – Meeting with Automotive and Auto components working group, DG GROW

Serafino introduced the purpose of the EU Tour as well as the Auto components working group activities and the Position Paper on market access related issues. Florence introduced the Automotive working group KRs one by one. Referring the re-manufacturing, DG Trade has introduced chamber to follow up a sheet to fill in and provide the industry evidence on trade negotiations needed which is also related with electronic waste treatment and the correct definition of re-manufacturing.

DG GROW expressed the willingness to better dialogue with chamber with establishment a mechanism on dialogues and better preparation for the upcoming mission in China, taking reference of the MIIT –EU Automotive dialogue. Before such event, industry and DG GROW shall get in touch one or two months ahead of time, to ensure different levels of context engagement and a quick action to act in Brussels.

Talking about specific industry issue, Made in China 2025, NEV and IP related concerns as well as Bus engine. DG GROW was advised by industry to welcome an early warning issue mechanism to host pre discussions on working group level, to consult and align the priorities of European companies in China and inform DG GORW on timely manner for international negotiations.

The next MIIT meeting agenda so far has MES topic, NEV battery, remanufacturing and solid waste treatment to follow up with, DG GROW will come back to us on this inquires, to be provided by the delegates who joined this meeting followed up by BMs.
