20th EU-China IP Working Group

The 20th EU-China IP Working Group between the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and the European Commission, Directorate General for Trade (DG Trade) was held in Beijing on 20 April. The meeting was co-chaired by Head of Unit of DG Trade Fernando Perreau de Pinninck and Deputy Director-General of MOFCOM Chen Fuli. Industry representatives from the Intellectual Property Rights Working Group were invited to deliver their contributions.

In the meeting, state of various deliverables for priority areas in the IP Dialogue was addressed and discussed, including 1) trademarks; 2) online counterfeiting and piracy; 3) protection of trade secrets; 4) interplay between competition regulations and IP laws; 5) protection of tade secrets; 6) judicial cooperation; 7) academic cooperation; 8) patent system amendments. Later, participants from both sides exchanged views on the enforcement issues of IP protection.
