EU-China Industry Roundtable on Online IP Protection

2017-04-21 | Beijing, Shanghai, South China

With the reform of China’s E-commerce Law advancing in the legislative agenda, the European Commission and MOFCOM hosted a roundtable on online IP protection, tackling in particular voluntary cooperation models to curb IPR infringement on e-commerce, liabilities of intermediaries and other topics. This event builds on the business conference with industry representatives and e-commerce platforms, which took place on 2nd June 2016.

The Chamber’s National Chair of Intellectual Property Rights Working Group, Mr Elliot Papageorgiou, addressed at the openning remarks. He made introduction on the Chamber as well as the Intellectual Property Rights Working Group first and concluded key outcomes of last year's conference. He then futher commented on EU-China cooperation to combat online infringement and counterfeiting and joined the wider discussion with the participants.

Other industry representatives from the Intellectual Property Rights Working Group were invited to provide their inputs. The roundtable of April 21st intends to facilitate follow up discussions among government and industry actors in order to clearly frame issues faced by IPR owners and advance proposals for achieving widely shared solutions.
