On June 13th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released a revised draft of Measures on Corporate Average Fuel Consumption and NEV Credit Management for public comments. The rule aims to enhance the level of energy saving in automobiles and to establish a legal system to regulate New Energy Vehicle (NEVs) credits. The European Chamber Automotive Working Group, on behalf of member companies, submitted to MIIT their consolidated comments. The working group proposed that the government should give enough buffer time when enforcing the NEV production quota and add more flexibility to the NEV standards, so that the industry have enough time to make adjustments according to the policy.
