Chairman of Chamber's Shenyang Office Addresses at 2017 Smart City (International) Innovation Conference

On 22nd September 2017, the 2017 Smart City (International) Innovation Conference and the 2017 The Third Smarter City International Expo kicked off in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. This conference was guided by the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Working Group of the Building of New Smart City, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), the Standardization Administration of China (SAC), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformtion, organized by Shenyang Municipal Government, China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) and Smart City Development Alliance, and supported by the European Chamber. 

Mr Harald Kumpfert, Chairman of Chamber’s Shenyang Chapter, was invited to deliver the speech on the development of smart cities. To start with, Mr Kumpfert made a brief introduction on the Chamber along with the activities relevant to smart cities. He pointed out that it is necessary for the government authorities at all levels to improve the management of smart cities and services for European companies in China. For instance, the permit application process in Shenyang could be further streamlined to reduce the costs for foreign invested enterprises. In addition, the data management may lead to greater transparency in making policies and supervision on implementation. As he mentioned, the Chamber and its members would be more than happy to assist in addressing common concerns regarding air quality by introducing new treatment methods and technologies in Shenyang. Mr Kumpfert concluded his speech with the wish of a better regulatory environment and more investment opportunities in Shenyang.
