Meeting with Vice Minister of the CAC

President of the Chamber had a meeting with Vice Minister Yang Xiaowei of the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC). President Harborn briefed the Vice Minister Yang the key findings of this year’s Position Paper and the EU Tour in late September. While recognizing the importance of having the Cybersecurity Law in China, he stressed that a good law should not affect the operation of FIEs. Vice Minister Yang welcomed the President and the delegation from the Chamber. He talked about the development of the ICT industry and cyberspace. He reaffirmed the delegation that the Cybersecurity Law is not to block the businesses of the FIEs and is equally applied to all businesses in China. Representatives from the ICT and Cybersecurity working groups provided some comments on the Law at the meeting. Vice Minister Yang said that in terms of the implementation of the Law, the CAC and other competent ministries will produce more rules or guidelines in the future. Both sides hoped to continue the dialogue and exchanges in both high-level and working-level meetings. President Harborn presented the Position Paper to Vice Minister Yang at the end of the meeting.
