Yefang attended a briefing hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee on the 19th National Congress of the CPC. Vice Minister Guo Yazhou gave a short introduction of the Congress and summarized it in seven phrases. i.e. new thought, new achievement, new era, new journey, new requirement, new contributions and new leadership. In the Q & A session, ambassadors from Uzbekistan, Tanzania, Albania, Tunisia and Nepal together with a representative from the CBBC and one Japanese representative asked questions about why there is no mentioning of the double-digit GDP growth in the Report, China-Africa relations, how to correctly understand the “new era”, China’s opening up policies and the anti-corruption campaign after the Party Congress, etc. Vice Minister Guo responded to each question. He said that China has already entered the “new era” with more focus on the quality of growth instead of quantitative economic growth. China’s opening up policies will remain unchanged and China will continue working with Parties and governments in the world to fight against corruption. He once again confirmed that there will be a high-level event at the end of November where the newly elected leadership will have dialogues with Party representatives from the world.
