Meeting with Vice Minister of SCLAO

President of the Chamber leading some working group representatives had a meeting with Vice Minister Gan Zangchun of the State Council Legislative Affairs Office (SCLAO). President Harborn briefed Vice Minister Gan the key findings of this year’s Position Paper and the EU Tour in late September. While stressing the importance of the engagement of multi-stakeholders in the legislative process, he expressed the hope of the Chamber to be involved in drafting the legislation as early as possible. When the floor was open to working groups, representatives from Logistics, HCE, Finance & Taxation, Cybersecurity working group and PN Desk voiced their questions and recommendations on relevant laws in the drafting or revision process, such as Export Control Law, Express Delivery Law, Implementation Rules of Food Safety Law and Implementation Rules of Consumer Protection Law. Vice Minister Gan and his colleagues responded to the concerns and suggestions from the Chamber. Vice Minister Gan said that the SCLAO will continue working with the public in the call for comments and review the comments provided by various parties. He also explained the challenges in China’s legislative affairs given its vast territory and different development in various regions. He hoped to see more experience sharing from the working groups of the Chamber in the future. President Harborn presented the Position Paper to Vice Minister Gan at the end of the meeting.
