Labour shortage issue - working level meeting with Foshan Government agencies

On December 12th the European Chamber and the Foshan Investment Promotion Agency (佛山市投资促进中心) held working level session between Members of the European Chamber and local government with participation of Bureau of Education of Foshan(佛山市教育局), Foshan Human Resource and Social Security Bureau (佛山市人力资源与社会保障局), Bureau of Commerce of Foshan
(佛山市商务局), Economic Promotion Bureau of Chancheng, Nanhai, Shunde, Gaoming and Sanshui districts (佛山市各区经济促进局 包括 禅城、南海、顺德、高明和三水).

This working meeting was focusing on supporting the labour recruitment for manufacturing industry based in Foshan. During this meeting the Foshan Human Resource and Social Security Bureau (佛山市人力资源与社会保障局) introduced free government resources available for companies to support their recruitment such us the local recruitment platform at https://www.fsrlzy.cn/  and policies and subsidies for technical experts available locally that can be also reviewed on the website of the Human Resource and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province at http://www.gdhrss.gov.cn/index.html

According to the Foshan Bureau of Education (佛山市教育局) vocational schools in Guangdong province are adjusting according to the industrial needs. For example, to address the difficulty of recruiting welding workers, there are currently 67 vocational schools offering welding specialization in the province, amongst those two are located in Foshan.

 

This working meeting aimed to provide companies with the opportunity to address their issues as well as communicate with the local government to know about new policies, incentives and projects that can be useful for them.

 

The manufacturing companies tackle their current HR issues by focusing on organizing skills upgrading programs for their employees with low level of vocational education; paying attention to the improvement of internal HR policies and efforts on retaining talents with incentives and corporate culture.

 

The meeting concluded with the handover of the European Business in China hand over to the Foshan Investment Promotion Agency (佛山市投资促进中心) and Foshan Human Resource and Social Security Bureau (佛山市人力资源与社会保障局) and all government bureaus representatives present at this meeting.
