2018-10-09 | Shanghai

On 9 October, representatives of the Consulate Generals, foreign chambers of commerce and companies were invited to join a panel discussion on customs and trade facilitation in the preparation of the 1st China International Import Expo (CIIE). The meeting was organized by the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chaired by Mr. Xu Jianmin, Chair of the Economic Affairs Committee.

Ms. Helei Fu, Government Affairs Director of the Chamber, and Ms. Ashley Wang, National Chair of the Chamber's Agriculture, Food and Beverage (AFB) working group, joined the discussion on behalf of the Chamber. Common concerns from the CIIE exhibitors include lack of clarity of the CIIE event schedules, lack of flexibility for business to change plans and participants, additional requirements on goods clearance for the exhibition, high entry fees for the CIIE opening and parallel forums, administrative instructions on hotel price cap, limited access for small and medium-size companies to participate, etc.
