The European Chamber and the EU SME Centre join the 9th EU-China SME Policy Dialogue

On 26th October, Peter Pronk, Director of the European Union (EU) Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) Centre, and Ester Cañada Amela, Working Group Coordinator at the European Chamber, attended the 9th EU-China SME Policy Dialogue in Brussels. The event was chaired by Wang Jiangping, Vice-minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Irmfried Schwimann, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), and Kristin Schreiber, Director of DG GROW.

The dialogue touched upon key issues for SMEs such as access to financing, entrepreneurship and internationalisation. As representatives of business organisations, Mr Pronk provided an overview of the activities of the EU SME Centre, and Ms Cañada Amela presented the key concerns and recommendations of European SMEs from the Inter-Chamber SME Working Group Position Paper, as well as the European Business in China—Business Confidence Survey 2018.

Concluding the event, both sides expressed their willingness to continue and, if possible, expand their cooperation on promoting the development of SMEs.
