Meeting with the Regulatory Department of SAMR

On 20th March, a delegation of eight representatives from multiple working groups and desks met with Xue Guoqin, deputy director general of the Regulatory Department of the State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR). The group had an in-depth discussion and exchanged views on SAMR's legislation plans for 2019.
As this was the Chamber’s first meeting with the Regulation Department since the formation of SAMR, DDG Xue introduced the legislative process of developing SAMR regulations, its coordination with other drafting departments and gave updates on several regulations under draft and revision. Chamber representatives suggested SAMR set up a feedback mechanism regarding comments collected from each round of calls for comments, which will not only recognise the Chamber's and enterprises' engagement but also improve the transparency of government legislation.
Working groups members presented the European Business in China Position Paper 2018/2019 to DDG Xue and committed to sending more specific advocacy messages about the issues discussed during the meeting.
