Exclusive Dialogue with Mr. Huang Qifan: New Trends and Patterns of International Trade in the New Era

On 21st June, Minister Huang Qifan, Vice Chair of the China Centre for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), former Vice Chair of the National People’s Congress Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, and former Mayor and Deputy Party Secretary of Chongqing, attended the European Chamber’s flagship event—'Exclusive Dialogue’—and delivered a 90-minute speech, themed as New Trends and Patterns of International Trade in the New Era.

Minister Huang Qifan introduced and elaborated on his proposed economic policy, ‘Three Zeros: Zero Tariffs, Zero Barriers and Zero Subsidies’, and the positive impacts the ‘Three Zeros’ might bring to China’s market economy in the new era. He said the benefits would be seen in the proper management of industrial chains, supply chains and value chains—the core competitive assets of companies.

The US-China trade conflict was another topic touched upon by Minster Huang. He said it would be a lose-lose situation for both China and the United States if the conflict continues or escalates, a statement many attendees expressed agreement with.

Nearly 100 representatives from foreign-invested companies, embassies, chambers of commerce and associations attended the meeting and participated in the following Q&A session with Minister Huang, moderated by Chen Xingdong, Chief Economist of BNP Paribas.
