Meeting with Mr Nicolas Chapuis, EU Ambassador to China

On 25th June, Bernhard Weber, chair of the Nanjing Chapter, and member representatives discussed the local business environment and future business opportunities in Jiangsu with Nicolas Chapuis, EU Ambassador to China, during the ambassador’s visit to Nanjing.
Mr Weber presented the Business Confidence Survey 2019 results to Ambassador Chapuis and highlighted the local outcomes. Members also shared their concerns regarding the recent changes to environmental law and tax reform. All sides discussed trade tensions between the United States and China and speculated on how European businesses would change in response.
Ambassador Chapuis said he highly appreciated the feedback from the European Chamber members and encouraged them to share their concerns with the local government via multiple channels. The ambassador also spoke highly of the dialogue channel the Chamber had built with the local government.
