Presentation to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee 2019

On 21 November 2019, Mr Marcus Wassmuth, Shanghai Board Member of the European Chamber, addressed the Briefing on the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee 2019. The audience totalled 130 people, including consuls-generals and consular officials of various countries, representatives of foreign companies and chambers of commerce, experts and scholars. Mr Wassmuth shared suggestions to CPPCC officials to improve the business environment in Shanghai. He praised the recent revisions to the negative list but called for more concrete measures to expand both market access and market opening, as well as enacting the principle of competitive neutrality to create a level playing field for foreign and domestic companies.
