Meeting with Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative, Wang Shouwen

On the morning of 26th November 2019, European Chamber President Jörg Wuttke brought a delegation of European Chamber Advisory Council and Food for Special Medical Purposes Advisory Committee members to meet with Mr. Wang Shouwen, vice minister of Commerce and deputy China International Trade Representative. Representatives from MOFCOM’s Foreign Investment Administration, Treaty and Law and European Affairs departments attended the meeting as well.

During the 1.5-hour meeting, many topics were discussed in depth, such as progress on the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI), implementation rules of the Foreign Investment Law, intellectual property rights protection, 5G development, China’s social credit system, and measures of reform and opening up. Vice Minister Wang and his colleagues provided thorough responses and requested further specific cases. The vice minister expressed appreciation for the European Chamber and President Wuttke’s efforts to facilitate China’s business environment improvement, the work on the annual Position Paper and the voice the Chamber provides for European enterprises. Vice Minister Wang Shouwen also stated "we are committed to more reform and further opening-up".
