Lobby Letter to the CBIRC on the Regulation of Reinsurance Companies

On 24^st February the European Chamber’s Insurance Working Group sent a lobby letter to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission on the regulation on the Establishment of Reinsurance Companies (Baojianhuiling [2002] 4) and the Regulation of the Reinsurance Business Management (Baojianhuiling 2010:8, revised in 2015).  

 On 18th December 2019, the Working Group met with Division Director Tang Li, Division Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission who gave us an update on the recent policies. In the discussion, the issue of the establishment of re-insurance companies and the administration of re-insurance business was raised, and it was suggested that the Working Group send a letter providing detailed information on the same issue.

On 24^st February 2020 the European Chamber’s Insurance Working Group sent a lobby letter to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission on the regulation on the Establishment of Reinsurance Companies (Baojianhuiling [2002] 4) and the Regulation of the Reinsurance Business Management (Baojianhuiling 2010:8, revised in 2015).  

In the letter, the Working Group asked whether it is possible to revise the regulation and that the relationship between the two regulations be further clarified
