On 4th April, the Environment and Petrochemicals, Chemicals and Refining working group submitted input to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on GB 30000.1—202X Rules for Classification and Labelling of Chemicals – Part 1: General Specifications, a draft by which China will adopt the most recent version of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for chemicals labeling and identification.

Working Group members gave various suggestions, including but not limited to: more accurate translations of the original English UN text for better standardisation of terms; confidentiality within information disclosure; use of bioelution testing; and use of precautionary codes for simple labels.
