Follow-Up Meeting with the European Union (EU) Delegation on the Resumption of EU Airlines

2020-06-12 | Beijing

European airline companies would like to address five major aspects:

(1) Reciprocity - The measures CAAC proposes are unilateral and hinders the resumption of normal scheduled operations.

(2) Imbalance in number of scheduled passenger flights. The Five/One approach created an imbalance between European carriers and Chinese carriers.

(3) Requirement for flight approval by CAAC and city/province adds up to the difficulties in obtaining a confirmation letter.

(4) The Circuit Breaker measures will cause uncertainty and mean barriers for flight planning and ticket booking.

(5) The temporary suspension of entry of foreigners with Valid Chinese Visas and Residence Permits impedes the resumption of flights and recovery of work.

The European Chamber asks EU Member States to consider how best to encourage the Chinese Authority to restore normal air services, ensure reciprocity, align all measures between different provincies, relax the circuit breaker measures and permit entry for work and family purposes.
