Meeting with Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, Shenzhen Bureau of Commerce, and GBA Office

On 27th July, the South China Chapter Board Chair George Lau and Vice Chair Klaus Zenkel met the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, Shenzhen Bureau of Commerce, Shenzhen Municipal GBA Development Office, to discuss the Business Confidence Survey findings, GBA development, and the latest policies for stabilizing foreign investment in Shenzhen.

Mr. George Lau introduced the endeavors of the Chamber utilizing the key findings of the BCS as instances. Klaus Zenkel complemented the conversation with his own experiences of being a foreign businessman in Shenzhen and indicated how our members are anticipating more constructive development in GBA. Concerns and obstacles raised by our members, specifically SMEs and international schools, were also articulated with earnest.

Yang Kun from Shenzhen BOFCOM appreciated the results of the BCS and pointed out that BOFCOM has been in close contact with the Chamber. He mentioned Shenzhen government has just released a series of local measures to stabilize foreign investment thanks to the significant contribution of policy suggestions and Position Paper of South China Chapter. Gu Ting, the Deputy Director-General of Shenzhen FAO also looked forward to incorporating European Chamber in the development of GBA and Shenzhen.
