On 17th August, the European Chamber's International Liner Shipping and Environment Working Groups submitted a letter to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's Solid Waste and Chemical Centre regarding the Solid Waste Import Ban.

The Working Groups requested clarification on several points of the law, including the joint liability of carriers, definition and catalogue of 'imported recycled resources', and inclusion of metal scraps. The letter also highlighted the significant negative impact that the ban might have on the pulp and paper industry.

The Working Groups requested a meeting with the MEE SCC to further discuss members' concerns.
