European Chamber Speaks at Cloud Summit on China-Europe Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation and Virtual Investment Promotion for the EU, Germany and France

On 30th October, Mr. Carlo D'Andrea, Vice President and Shanghai Chair of the European Chamber, spoke at the Cloud Summit on China-Europe Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation and Virtual Investment Promotion for the EU, Germany and France. The Summit was organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, with the aim of promoting trade and investment between China and the EU and some individual European Member States. Director Generals of the Commerce Departments of Zhejiang, Fujian and Hainan provinces, as well representatives of European trade and investment agencies, joined the Summit online and exchanged views on bilateral cooperation.
 
During the Summit, Mr. D'Andrea delivered a keynote speech that highlighted the challenges European business currently faces in China, particularly during the COVID-19 outbreak. He then joined an online dialogue with Mr. Wang Jian, Deputy Director General of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province. During this session, Mr. D’Andrea called for the further acceleration of Yangtze River Delta integration and better communication with the Zhejiang authorities in order to improve the regional business environment and inform European Chamber members of potential business opportunities in a timely manner. Finally, Mr. D'Andrea presented some key findings of the Chamber's 2020 Business Confidence Survey and urged the Chinese authorities to further open up the market and create a level playing field for both domestic and foreign businesses.
