Meeting with Mr. Song Gang, Deputy Director General of Chongqing Commission of Commerce

On 16th November, a European Chamber delegation led by President Jörg Wuttke had an exclusive VIP meeting with Mr Song Gang, deputy director general (DDG) of the Chongqing Commission of Commerce (CQCC), to present the Chamber’s European Business in China Position Paper 2020/2021 and voice the main concerns of members.

DDG Song Gang reviewed the cooperation between the CQCC and the Chamber over the past year. He went on to note that Chongqing’s economic growth slowed down in the first quarter of 2020, recovered in the second quarter and reached 2.6 per cent in the third quarter. Growth is expected to remain at 4–5 per cent in 2021. DDG Song also said that the CQCC should further enhance its cooperation with the Chamber. President Wuttke said China's effective anti-epidemic work has achieved economic recovery, which has a good effect on enterprises. He also said that, despite the complex political relationship between China, Europe and the United States, development of the sports industry can provide enormous business opportunities for Chamber members. President Wuttke added that he looks forward to increasing cooperation with Chongqing to look at how member companies can cope with current crises and economic decoupling.
