European Chamber Attends CCPIT 2021-Q2 FIE Seminar

On 25th June, the Head of Government Affairs of European Chamber participated in the quarterly roundtable with foreign companies organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The roundtable was organised to understand the concerns and challenges faced by international companies in China. There were more than 20 representatives from business organisations, foreign chambers and companies that engaged in the discussion.

The Head of Government Affairs of European Chamber raised the issues of the European Chamber's members, including the recent restrictions on return of family members of foreign expats, the cancellation of non-taxable benefits for foreign nationals, the resumption of international cruise operation in China, the difficulties of European small medium enterprises (SMEs) and supporting policies as well as the registration of recipes of infant and young children formula. Most of these concerns were shared by representatives of other chambers. Representatives from healthcare sector raised the issues on discrimination against imported products in government procurement, the slow process of product registration, volume-based procurement, IPR protection and others. 

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) updated participants on the recent measures taken by China to facilitate the return of foreign expats, protect IPR and improve communications between business and government.
