Visit to the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange Centre

On 15 September, 25 Members of the European Chamber across 4 Working Groups (Energy, Carbon Market, Environment and Petrochemicals,Chemicals and Refining) visited the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange Centre to discuss the National Carbon Emission Trading System, carbon finance and China's pathway to decarbonisation.

The event increased dialogue between the European Chamber members and the SEEE, looking at the transition from Shanghai's pilot carbon trading proramme into China's National Emission Trading Scheme.  The Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange is the designated implementation platform for the Shanghai carbon trading pilot. It is also a trading platform for Chinese Certified Emission Reduction (CCER) registered by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). It has become one of the largest environmental exchanges in the country in terms of scale and volume.
