Roundtable with Vice Chairman of CPPCC Shanghai Committee

On 12th Jan 2022, Dr. Ioana Kraft, General Manager of the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter joined the 5th “Riverside Meeting Hall” chaired by Mr. Zhou Hanmin, Vice Chairman of CPPCC Shanghai Committee. Following the release of the guidelines on supporting the reform and opening up in the Pudong New Area and making it a pioneer area on 15th July 2021 and the upcoming two sessions in Shanghai taking place from Jan 19th to 22nd 2022, government authorities are seeking advice from the business organizations and companies aiming to build a more open and competitive business environment in the Pudong New Area.  

In the meeting, Dr. Kraft presented current challenges and general recommendations on behalf of European companies, including topics such as the availability of booster shots for foreign residents and the relaxation of travel restrictions. European enterprises play a central role in increasing competitiveness and innovation capacities in Shanghai; more openings are welcomed especially in the financial, value-added telecommunications, and pharmaceutical sectors, to ensure that European enterprises can make full contributions to the local economy. The European Chamber Shanghai chapter will continue to serve as a central platform to connect local government authorities with the European companies in the region.
