European Chamber President meets Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment

On 26th January, Chamber President Joerg Wuttke met Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment Zhao Yingmin online. President Wuttke presented the European Business in China Position Paper 2021/2022 and discussed China’s decarbonisation initiative and the potential for EU-China collaboration.
Vice Minister Zhao thanked the Chamber for its long-term support promoting EU-China bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and environmental protection, and acknowledged the Chamber’s engagement in the Ministry of Ecology and Environment’s policy research. He expressed his wish for further engagement. He concluded by touching upon China’s ‘dual circulation’ policy and said that this will not stop China from continuing to reform and open its economy.
Representatives from the Chamber’s Environment Working Group, Carbon Market Sub-working Group, Petrochemicals, Chemicals and Refining Working Group and Quality and Safety Services Sub-working Group attended.
