European Chamber SG Dunnett Met with Economic Counsellor of the Slovenian Embassy

On 7th September, European Chamber received a visit from Jan Sitar, Economic Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in China (Slovenian Embassy).

Adam Dunnett, Secretary-general (SG) of the European Chamber, welcomed the Slovenian delegation and introduced the European Chamber, in terms of structure, main functions and advocacy work. SG Dunnett also explained the chamber’s Supervisory Board where a seat for the Slovenian National Representative is held.

Counsellor Sitar made a self-introduction as he has been newly posted in China and expressed strong interest in deepening engagement with the European Chamber. Counsellor Sitar recognised the European Chamber’s efforts in multiple areas including advocacy, publications, events, as well as the EU SME Center. He believed that these are the areas where the two sides can explore common grounds and strengthen cooperation. More specifically, Counsellor Sitar expressed the hope to have more active participation to the events hosted by the chamber.

SG Dunnett thanked for the kind recognition and expressed warm welcome for Counsellor Sitar and the Slovenian Embassy’s participation to the chamber events. SG Dunnett stressed that, besides being updated with the European Union (EU)’s messaging, it is of equal value to keep abreast of the situation of the EU member states. The European Chamber looks forward to more exchange with the Slovenian Embassy and its businesses in China.

The two sides also exchanged ideas on the most current topics, including bilateral trade relations, geopolitics, expat situation in China.
