Presentation of the R&D and IPR Position papers to EU Delegation and Member States Embassies

2014-11-17 | Shanghai

On Monday 17th November, the European Chamber was invited to a workshop hosted by the EU Delegation Trade and Science, Technology & Environment Sections. Representatives of the IPR and R&D Working Groups of the Chamber presented to European Member States the concerns and key recommendations of the European industry based on the R&D and IPR Position Papers.

Following the European Chamber presentations by representatives and Chairs of the R&D and IPR Working Groups, the 12 member states represented and the EU Delegation discussed about the most pressing issues related to innovation in China, particularly the discrimination regarding access to funding and High and New Technology Enterprise Status for FIEs.

The British Embassy in particular shared their latest actions and messages to the Chinese Government, encouraging more coordination at a European level.

Based on the Chamber's presentation, attendees agreed to develop a concept paper gathering the issues identified and proposed actions to be shared to their respective capitals in Europe in order to coordinate the messages of European leaders when they come to visit China and meet Chinese officials.

A follow up meeting of the same kind will be organised in January 2015.
