Meeting with China Centre for Promotion of SME Development (ProSME) and China International Cooperation Association of SMEs (CICASME)

On 14th October, representatives of the European Chamber and the EU SME Centre met with a delegation led by Shan Lipo, director general from the China Centre for the Promotion of SME Development (ProSME) and the China International Cooperation Association of SMEs (CICASME). Frank Schmiedel, first counsellor at the Delegation of the European Union to China, also attended the meeting.

Jens Eskelund, vice president of the European Chamber, presented the Inter-Chamber Small and Medium Enterprise Working Group Position Paper 2022/2023 and expressed key concerns of EU SMEs operating in China, such as access to financing, administrative barriers, financial burdens and IPR protection. Liam Jia, team lead at the EU SME Centre introduced Phase IV of the Centre. All noted the successful cooperation that had so far taken place between the two sides – which included joint events on the interpretation of relevant SME policies, as well as the participation of Chamber and Centre representatives in major conferences organised by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and ProSME. The option to explore new areas and modes of cooperation was then proposed.
