Meeting with Sichuan Development & Reform Commission and CCPIT

On Feb 7th, 2023, Southwest China Chapter of European Chamber had a meeting with Sichuan Development & Reform Commission and CCPIT in Chengdu. During the meeting, Massimo and Sally introduced EU SME Centre and also addressed the main SME issues / suggestions and the main discussion points as below:
1. Further deepening of close cooperation actions in term of policy making to facilitate the landing and daily operation of European Companies in Sichuan (with a focus on the SMEs). Difficulty for SMEs to get financial support from local government and from finance institution
2. Sichuan DRC and Sichuan CCPIT briefed their key focus and key activities for 2023 including IPR Day on April 26th, Auto Spare Part exhibition on May and 24delegation tour to oversea and their major focus is for serving foreign business, deeper understand foreign business key concerns and government-business dialogue
3. Key event cooperation for both sides in 2023 shall focus on topics regarding Chengdu-Chongqing Economic zone, SME, Talents attraction and delegation visit. Also shall continue to host annual China-EU technology and cooperation fair which host for over 16 years in Chengdu and good asset for Sichuan-EU cooperation
4. Suggest local government to put the next priority on SMEs if they want to attract more new FDI since most big fishes are already in China and also SMEs contribute lots of know-how and jobs
5. Agreed to continue quarterly meeting for both sides to exchange information and discuss new developments.
